Another late start to this day. I didn’t feel in any rush throughout this day and just enjoyed the slow-moving agenda for the day. On my way into Forks, Wa I stopped at the welcome sign for the town. I got some pictures and saw an old red truck like the one Bella Swan drove in the Twilight movies. I wasn’t the only one stopping to take a picture with the sign, people after me stopped to take a quick picture too. I stopped in at the library and used their drive-up WiFi parking spots to upload some photos to make room on my phone. As I was doing that I read in my car as rain sprinkled down and as the sky cleared up for a very sunny day. After, I drove through a neighborhood to see the Swan House that gave the author of Twilight inspiration for the books. I think the owners of that house liked the attention their house got because they had a cardboard cutout of Edward Cullen in the window. Next, I drove to La Push, Wa to check out La Push Beach, another place mentioned in the Twilight series. I definitely lived out some childhood dreams with this day's visits!
The beach was beautiful. Lots of stacked logs and boulders around the shore. Large rock formations in the water in every direction. I sat on the stacked boulders for a long time just listening to the waves and letting the sun warm my face. As I was leaving I saw a few people pulling on wet suits to go surfing. I talked with my parents as I drove over to Rialto Beach. After talking with them for a long time I started my walk on the beach. This beach was also really pretty and I noticed it was just a continuation of La Push beach, just on the other side of a marina. I walked along the stony and sandy beach, crossing a log bridge over a creek leading to the ocean, and down to the rock formations. I looked for tide pools and found some more of those circular squishy things, barnacles, and some starfish this time. They were all different colors, blue, purple, and yellow. It was cool to see one for the first time. I walked further to a big rock cliff that had a hole through it. Along the rocky ground, the waves carved out canyon-like pathways through the smooth surface. The sun was bright against the exposed seaweed and the shiny rocks. I walked back and enjoyed the clear skies and the fresh ocean air. Once I got back to my van I headed out for a spot for the night. It was along the coast of the Salish Sea and faced the mountains of Canada. The drive was gorgeous through a valley. Fog and clouds hung out on top of these mountains and hills with strips of the white cotton-like substances weaving through the trees. I made it to the spot and it was so pretty. The sunset made the Canadian mountains blue and the sky and water blended the blues, reds, and oranges to make a perfect copy of each other. I set up for the night and cooked a late dinner.
While my day didn’t have too much going on, my night made up for it. I was watching tv when I heard something touch or scrape against the back left side of my van. It sounded like branches scraping against it or a person messing with it. There wasn’t any wind and no branches on that side of the van or anywhere close to it. I got a little freaked out and couldn’t see anything out there. I packed up as quietly and quickly as I could and drove away. I didn’t see anything or anyone as I drove off. I stopped in the nearest town about 20 minutes away to check to see if there was anything stuck to my van like a tracker or AirTag but didn’t see anything. I debated staying at the post office I was at for the night or driving the 30 mins back to Forks to stay in town there. I wanted to stay at the post office but there was a car parked there that was playing really loud music so I just ended up going back to Forks. I parked in a big lot next to a store plaza and felt much safer there. This was definitely the strangest thing I’ve encountered yet and the creepiest, but I was just glad I had a backup, even though it was a little out of the way and inconvenient. It all worked out in the end.
